Mauritanian Ambassador affirms importance of activating bilateral agreements with Syria

Damascus, SANA – Mauritanian Ambassador in Damascus Ali Ould Ahmed Ali affirmed the importance of activating and implementing the agreements signed between Syria and Mauritania.

He referred to the agreements that include the sectors of housing, reconstruction, culture, education and endowments.

The Ambassador’s remarks came during a meeting with the Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hamoudeh Sabbagh at the Assembly’s headquarters on Tuesday.

In turn, Speaker Sabbagh referred to the continuation of the work of the Mauritanian Embassy in Damascus despite the pressure exerted on the government of Mauritania to cut off ties as a proof of the deep relations binding the two countries.

In the same context, a meeting was held between members of the Syrian-Mauritanian Fraternity Society at the People’s Assembly and focused on the possibility of resuming the activities of the Syrian Cultural Center in Nouakchott and encouraging the Syrian Chambers of Industry to invest in Mauritania.
