Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad affirmed that Damascus and Tehran will not be dissuaded by the hostile escalation of some regional and Western countries from continuing work to consolidate stability in the region.
The President’s remarks came during a meeting with Ali Akbar Velayati, the top adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Ali Khamenei and the accompanying delegation.
The escalated hostile attitudes of some regional and Western countries against Iran and their attempts to disrupt stability in other countries in the region cannot be separated from the deterioration of the terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq, President al-Assad said, stressing that this “will not dissuade Damascus and Tehran from continuing work to bolster stability in the region and defend the interests of its peoples.”
The latest developments related to the war in Syria were discussed during the talks, with both sides stressing that the battle against the terrorist organizations will continue until restoring stability and security to the entire Syrian territory.
The war which the Syrian Arab Army and allied forces are engaged in is not only against terrorism, but also against the attempts to invest terrorism and exploit it to achieve the aim of dismembering and debilitating countries, President al-Assad said.
He reiterated that the victories that have been achieved against the terrorist organizations starting with Aleppo and not ending with Deir Ezzor constitute a “decisive blow” that foiled the projects of fragmentation and the goals of terrorism and the countries backing it.
For his part, Velayati said the results of the resilience of the Syrians and their sacrifices over seven years of war have become clear to friends and enemies alike, adding that this resilience and those sacrifices have contributed to maintaining the Syrian state and its national unity, which would lead to eventually achieving final victory over the terrorists and their backers.
