Tartous, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis stressed the importance of supporting Syrian economy through establishing development projects and providing job opportunities in order to develop local society and reduce the devastating consequences of terrorist war on Syria.
Premier Khamis made his remarks during a popular meeting at the Arab Cultural Center in al-Qadmous City in Tartous province.
He called for providing an appropriate site to establish a cigarette packaging factory in the area, stressing the government’s keenness on providing necessary support to tobacco farmers and increasing purchase prices.
Premier Khamis and the accompanying ministerial delegation launched work with smart cards in al-Qadmous, noting that the project will provide 300 job opportunities to injured Syrian army personnel.
Ministers of Local Administration, Health, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Social Affairs, Oil and Mineral Resources and Tourism reviewed possible developmental projects in al-Qadmous area which serve the interests of its inhabitants.
Some 80 families of martyrs and injured Syrian army personnel were honored during the meeting in which Premier Khamis listened to their problems and concerns and extended President Bashar al-Assad’s greetings and appreciation for their sacrifices, adding that the government will spare no effort to provide them with their needs.
Later on, Premier Khamis and the accompanying delegation toured the Industrial Area in Tartous city and listened to Industrialists’ complaints about obstacles hindering their work such as electricity, loans and workforce.
They also met greenhouse growers in Baniyas city and discussed issues related to providing agricultural products including seeds, pesticides and soil sterilization, in addition to establishing a factory for plastic bottles and products.
Premier Khamis reiterated the government’s readiness to provide support to the agricultural development projects to expand and improve protected agriculture.
The Premier laid down the foundation stone for the industrial area project in Baniyas city.
In a relevant context, the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection laid down the foundation stone of vegetables and fruits packaging project which covers an area of 40 Donum with a total capacity of 3000 to 5000 tons.
