Damascus, SANA – People’s Assembly, chaired by its speaker Hadiyeh Abbas, discussed on Tuesday the performance of the Local Administration and Environment Ministry and issues related to its work.
Members of the Assembly called for explaining the ministry’s plan regarding the rebuilding process and the rehabilitation works in cities, towns and villages to which the Syrian army restored security and stability, particularly in Aleppo city.
They also indicated to the need for reconsidering some provisions of the local administration law and compensate citizens for damage caused to their properties due to terrorist attacks.
Responding to the Assembly members’ queries, Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf said that the ministry has adopted a clear approach to implement its programs and plans, noting to the support provided to the administrative units in order to meet citizens’ needs, offer more services and increase the capabilities taking into account the terrorist attacks which targeted the infrastructure.
He pointed out that several draft laws and legislations have been set up with the aim of improving performance, find solutions and address issues related to the reconstruction stage and the removal of rubbish.
The minister said that the repair and maintenance operation of the Ithriya-Khanaser road is under implementation as well as other projects which are still underway to meet the requirements of services and industrial facilities in Aleppo city to be re-operated.
Makhlouf underlined the Ministry’s interest in firefighting and disaster management, indicating to the firefighters’ role in backing up the Syrian army and rescue the civilians.
