Industry Minister: Great efforts to rerun factories and meet citizens’ needs

Damascus, SANA – People’s Assembly on Monday discussed the performance of Industry Ministry, means of upgrading the industrial facilities and speeding up the production.

Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas stressed the importance of overcoming the difficulties and obstacles which hinder the development of the industry sector, doubling efforts to increase production, rehabilitating the terror-affected facilities and providing workforce in order to meet the citizens’ needs.

Members of the Assembly  called for following up on the progress achieved by the Ministry regarding the rehabilitation of damaged public and private industrial facilities and the need to provide industrialists with all equipment and oil productions required as well as exemptions, loans and other facilitations.

They called upon the Ministry to take tangible measures to meet the needs of the industrialists and support the industry sector in Hama, Lattakia, Tartous and Aleppo.

Other members highlighted the effect of increasing the price of fertilizers and agricultural medicines on the citrus tree planting, with stress laid on the necessity of forming committees to evaluate the losses inflicted upon industrial machinery and factories with the aim of suing states which support terrorists.

Answering MPs’ inquires, Industry Minister Ahmad al-Hamo said that the Ministry is doing its best to move forward the wheel of production and re-operate factories in areas to which the Syrian army has restored security and stability, not to mention efforts exerted to establish high-yield industrial investments in order to provide the needs of local market which will positively reflect on the prices.

He added that the Ministry is currently focusing on how to rely on raw materials to carry out industrial projects of public and private sectors.
