Aleppo Governor, ICRC representative discuss cooperation in relief work

Aleppo, SANA – Aleppo Governor Mohammad Marwan Olabi discussed with Head of the International Committee of the Red
Cross (ICRC) mission in Syria Marianne Gasser the situation of the relief and humanitarian work in the province and the means to boost joint cooperation and coordination.

During a meeting on Monday, the governor hailed the role of the ICRC and other international humanitarian organizations in supporting the relief sector in Syria and helping the affected families.

He called for providing the health institutions with advanced medical supplies to enable them to continue their work under the great pressure facing the health sector currently, especially due to the repeated terrorist attacks on Aleppo city’s neighborhoods.

In turn, Gasser noted that she has visited public hospitals in Aleppo where she sensed the great efforts exerted by the medical staffs, affirming that the ICRC is keen to increase assistance to Aleppo province.

She said focus must be placed on the issues of supporting the water sector, cooperating with the institutions concerned to provide all necessary requirements and continuing work to implement the emergency plan.
