Iconic Syrian artist Sabah Fakhri passes away aged 88

Damascus, SANA- The Information Ministry and the Artists Syndicate mourned on Tuesday iconic Syrian artist Sabah Fakhri who passed away aged 88.

The Late artist was born in Aleppo in 1933. He was awarded the Syrian Order of Merit of Excellent Degree in 2007 in appreciation for his great and distinguished achievements in the service of the Syrian Arab art.

He also held several positions and was elected Head of the Artists Syndicate, Vice President of the Union of Arab Artists, and Director of the Syrian Song Festival.

He hit the singing record when he sang in Caracas, Venezuela, for 10 hours without interruption in 1968.
