Syria calls upon Security Council and UN Secretary-General to assume responsibilities for preventing recurrence of Israeli attacks

Damascus, SANA- Syria calls once again on the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to assume responsibilities and take firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of Israeli attacks on the Syrian territory.

The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said, in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Friday that “at nearly 23.03 on Thursday evening, August 19,2021, the Israeli occupation authorities launched an air missile aggression from the southeast side of Beirut, targeting some posts in the surroundings of Damascus and Homs.”

The Ministry said that this act of aggression comes in the framework of the systematic and the ongoing criminal policies in a flagrant exchange of roles between all parties involved in the shedding of Syrian blood to prolong the terrorist war on Syria and raise the morale of terrorists, militants and criminals in the northeastern area occupied by the US army and Daraa al-Balad occupied by the Erdogan regime forces and their terrorist tools.

The Ministry added that continuation of the Israeli occupation authorities in its terrorist attacks will not dissuade the Syrian people, the Syrian Arab Army and its allies from defeating Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations and other terrorist groups that are partners of Israel and the United States of America in terrorism.

The Ministry concluded that Syria calls once again on the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to shoulder their responsibilities in the framework of the UN Charter, the most important of which is the maintenance of international peace and security, take firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of Israeli attacks on the Syrian territory, and oblige Israel to respect its decisions related to the Separation of Forces Agreement and to hold it accountable for its terrorism and crimes committed against the peoples of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine.
