Syria and Norway discuss cooperation in the health sector

Damascus-SANA- Syria and Norway have discussed ways to boost health cooperation between the two countries.

That came during a meeting Sunday at the Ministry of Health which brought together Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Maher al-Sharaa, and Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andreas Kravik, and his accompanying delegation.

Syria and Norway discuss cooperation in the health sector

Dr. al-Sharaa highlighted the current challenges facing the health sector, while commending Norway’s efforts to support Syria.

He emphasized that the current focus is on primary healthcare, preventive medicine for cancer and chronic diseases, and attention to mental health, especially for women and children.

He also underlined the importance of continuous medical education to improve the Syrian board certification.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kravik, for his part, underscored the crucial role of the international community in lifting sanctions on Syria to improve the health sector.

He affirmed the necessity of ensuring energy supply to health facilities and building a health sector that meets the needs of the Syrian people.
