Syria, Islamic Development Bank discuss boosting of joint cooperation

Syria, Islamic Development Bank discuss boosting of joint cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Islamic Development Bank discuss Monday prospects for developing joint cooperation and resuming work between both sides after a hiatus of approximately 13 years.

That was during a meeting that brought together Head of Planning and International Cooperation Commission, Musab al -Badawi, and a delegation of Islamic Development Bank, headed by the Director General of Country Programs, Anasse Aissami.

The two sides discussed mechanisms to support Syria in order to achieve recovery and sustainable development, in a way that would contribute to building capabilities, and training youth to establish finance small development projects.

Al-Badawi stressed full readiness to cooperate with the Bank, develop relations and seek to increase projects volume in order to achieve economic and social development.

For his part, Anasse Aissami said this is the first official visit to Syria since 2012, and comes as a part of boosting the reconstruction process and avenues for economic cooperation, identifying renewed development needs, and exerting more efforts by the bank to achieve recovery in all possible fields.

Aissami added that the Islamic Bank is committed to supporting Syria during this important phase, to reach economic recovery and promoting sustainable growth.

It is noteworthy that Syria regained its membership in Islamic Development Bank on 16th March of the current year. ‏
