Erdogan: Israel is working to destabilize Syria, and Turkey will not allow it

Ankara, SANA-Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that Israel continues its aggression against Palestine and its attacks on Syria and Lebanon, targeting the stability of the region, threatening it, and stirring up trouble there.

“We know that Syria has suffered from instability for 15 years, and Turkey is one of the countries most affected by this situation. Today, there is a golden opportunity to achieve stability in the region, and we will not allow anyone to waste this opportunity. We will not turn a blind eye to those who try to sow discord and division. We have a long border with Syria, and we respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” In his speech Friday at the opening of the the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2025, held in Turkey under the theme of“Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World” . Erdogan said.

Erdogan pointed out that the Syrian people are completely exhausted by war and suffering, and therefore no one has the right to cause this to happen again. Turkey will not allow this to happen again and will continue to resolve problems diplomatically. He explained that no one should misunderstand this, nor should they think that Turkey cannot respond to those who seek to destabilize this region.

He added: “We want peace and prosperity for all the peoples of the region, regardless of their background. We want stability, prosperity, and security for this region. The territorial integrity of Syria and the preservation of its stability are also important. We in Turkey are in contact with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as all those who play a role in this matter, to achieve this goal. Furthermore, we will take the necessary steps to implement the agreements we have concluded with the current Syrian administration to achieve these goals in the region.”.

Erdogan noted that Turkey wants to see peace in the region instead of conflict, and prosperity instead of blood, tears, pain, and tension. He once again called on the Security Council and the international community to stop the bloodshed in Gaza and stand by the Palestinian people, whose heroic struggle against the occupation cannot be tarnished by labeling them as terrorists.
