Damascus, Oct. 26 (SANA) Twenty-nine people were injured in 18 traffic accidents across Syria over the past 24 hours, the Syrian Civil Defense said Monday, reporting that its teams also responded to 41 fires without injuries.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel on Monday, the Civil Defense said its teams provided first aid to those injured in the accidents and transported them to hospitals for treatment. They also cleared debris and secured the accident sites.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce speed, check their vehicles’ technical condition, ensure that brakes and windshield wipers are functioning properly, and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Its teams responded to 41 fires involving homes, commercial shops, grass, trees, garbage and electrical wires. The fires were extinguished, and the affected sites were cooled and secured. No injuries were reported, and the damage was limited to material losses.
The Civil Defense called on the public to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural fields and to refrain from throwing cigarette butts or glass containers along roads, particularly near crops and wooded areas. It also urged people not to burn dry grass around homes or along roadsides, advising them to remove it safely.
Two days earlier, 25 people were injured in traffic accidents and fires in several Syrian provinces, which were handled by Civil Defense teams affiliated with the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
