Damascus, Aug 22 (SANA) Twenty-six people were injured in traffic accidents and fires across several parts of Syria over the past 24 hours, according to the Civil Defense teams of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
The Civil Defense said Saturday that its teams responded to 22 traffic accidents, which left 25 people injured. The injured received first aid before being taken to hospitals for further treatment, while Civil Defense teams cleared the accident sites and secured the affected areas.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce their speed, check the technical condition of their vehicles, including brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions such as using mobile phones while driving.
104 fires reported across several provinces
Civil Defense teams also responded to 104 fires, including five in agricultural fields and crops. The remaining fires occurred at homes, commercial shops and in grass, trees, garbage and electrical wires. All fires were extinguished and the affected sites cooled.
The fires injured one person, who received first aid, and caused material damage.
The Civil Defense renewed its call for the public to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural fields and to refrain from throwing cigarette butts or glass containers along roads, particularly near crops and wooded areas. It also urged residents not to burn dry grass around homes or along roadsides, but to remove it safely.
