Damascus, Sept. 28 (SANA) Thirty-one people were injured in road accidents and fires across Syria over the past 24 hours, the Syrian Civil Defense in the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said Monday on Telegram.
Civil Defense teams responded to 23 road accidents that injured 28 people, providing first aid before transporting the injured to hospitals for further treatment. Teams cleared the aftermath of the accidents and secured the affected sites.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce speed and ensure their vehicles are in safe working condition, particularly by checking brakes and windshield wipers.
It called on motorists to avoid behavior that could distract them while driving, including using mobile phones.
Civil Defense teams responded to 59 fires, which injured three people and caused property damage, according to the statement.
The injured received first aid before being transported to hospitals for treatment.
The Civil Defense urged residents not to light fires in forests or agricultural fields and warned against throwing cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, particularly near crops and wooded areas.
It advised people not to burn dry grass around homes or along roads and called for dry vegetation to be removed using safe methods.
The latest figures follow another series of incidents reported by the Civil Defense a day earlier. On Sunday, SANA reported that one person had died and 27 others were injured in road accidents and fires across Syria during the preceding 24 hours. Civil Defense teams responded to 16 road accidents that killed one person and injured 26 others, while 59 fires left one person injured.
