Damascus, Oct. 1 (SANA) Syrian and French officials on Thursday discussed bilateral ties and political cooperation during talks in Damascus, the Foreign Ministry said.
Sally Shobat, director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Jean-Baptiste Faivre, chargé d’affaires of the French Embassy in Damascus.
The talks focused on ways to develop Syria-France relations and advance their joint political agenda, with both sides stressing the importance of coordinating efforts to support stability and create conditions for further cooperation.
French President Emmanuel Macron visited Syria on July 6-7 and held talks with President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Damascus. The visit marked a new phase in Syria-France relations, with the two presidents agreeing to appoint ambassadors and deepen bilateral cooperation.
The visit included the signing of agreements and discussions on expanding economic and security cooperation, reconstruction and investment. The two sides also explored cooperation in areas including transport, logistics, banking, civil aviation, healthcare and education.
