The Hague, June 30 (SANA) Syria’s National Commission for Transitional Justice is taking part in a training course hosted by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague to strengthen national capacities and exchange expertise on implementing relevant international obligations.

In a statement posted Tuesday on its Telegram channel, the commission said the participation is part of efforts to strengthen institutional capabilities, benefit from international expertise and support national institutions in carrying out their duties in line with internationally recognized legal and technical standards.

The commission said capacity-building and professional development are key to improving the efficiency of national institutions, enhancing public services and strengthening confidence in state institutions.

The four-day training program began on Monday and includes a 26-member Syrian delegation representing several ministries and national bodies.

The National Commission for Transitional Justice is an independent body with legal personality and financial and administrative autonomy. It was established under Presidential Decree No. 20 in May 2025 and operates across Syria.

Since its establishment, the commission has worked with government institutions, local communities and international partners to advance transitional justice through accountability, truth-seeking, reparations and measures aimed at preventing future violations.
