Damascus, Sept. 9 (SANA) Information Minister Khaled Zaarour discussed Wednesday with Stefan Schulz, head of GIZ’s BRIDGE program for strengthening Syrian civil society capacities, prospects for cooperation aimed at developing Syria’s media sector and building professional capacity.
The Information Ministry said on Telegram that the meeting, attended by Mia Rebecca Takada and Johanna Stucki from the German Embassy in Damascus, focused on supporting field and public-awareness efforts to counter disinformation and developing tools and programs to address its impact in Syria.

The two sides also discussed joint training programs aimed at improving the professional skills and capabilities of media personnel.
They expressed readiness to establish direct coordination with the German Press Council, paving the way for broader exchanges of expertise and closer cooperation in relevant fields.
The meeting stressed the importance of expanding such initiatives and activities to different parts of Syria to help build a professional and informed media sector capable of responding to contemporary challenges.
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is a German government-owned organization that has worked in international development for more than five decades and implements development programs in more than 120 countries, including Syria.
