Daraa, June 22 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces advanced on Monday into al-Arada village in the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa countryside, local authorities said.
Muwafaq Mahmoud, head of the Ma’ariya and Abidin municipality, told SANA that a force consisting of three vehicles carrying around 20 soldiers entered the village and surrounding agricultural land for a limited period.
He added that the force reached the area of Bir Bilal al-Ghabit, where it set up a temporary checkpoint that lasted for about an hour before withdrawing toward the al-Jazira base via a rural road north of Ma’ariya village.
On Sunday, the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) conducted a field patrol in the villages of Abidin and Ma’ariya in western Daraa countryside, inspecting streets and meeting residents and shop owners to assess local conditions.
Israel has repeatedly violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions in southern Syria, including raids, arrests, land clearing and shelling.
Syria stresses that all measures taken by Israeli forces on its territory are null and void under international law, and calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities and halt these violations while ensuring Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Syria.
