Internal Security arrests individual for child torture in Hama

Damascus, SANA- Internal security forces in Hama have arrested an individual who appeared in a video widely circulated on social media, torturing a child. He will be brought before the judiciary to receive his punishment.

In a statement published on Hama Governorate’s Telegram channel, Brigadier General Mulham Mahmoud al-Shantout, Commander of Internal Security in the governorate, confirmed that after images spread on social media showing a child being tortured by his uncle in Hama city, immediate action was taken to gather information on his whereabouts.

He stated that after searching and investigation, an individual identified as (M.S.) was apprehended by one of our patrols before being handed over to the Criminal Investigations Branch in the governorate for questioning and proper referral to the judiciary to receive his just punishment.

Brigadier General al-Shantout emphasized the Ministry of Interior’s constant commitment to protecting children’s rights from all forms of violence and harm, and to holding accountable anyone involved in attempting to violate their safety and rights.

The Commander of Internal Security in Hama also urged residents of the governorate to cooperate with the competent authorities and to immediately report any incident to ensure a safe and stable environment for the community.

The governorate’s channel reported that, under the direction of Governor Abdul Rahman al-Sahyan, the child was transferred to the medical center in Hama to receive necessary treatment after suffering physical harm.
