Hasakah, June 5 (SANA) Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali said personnel from the Asayish security forces affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will begin integrating into the Ministry of Interior in the coming period under the Jan. 29 agreement aimed at unifying security and military institutions under state authority.
Speaking to Syria’s Al-Ikhbariya TV on Thursday, al-Hilali said the initiative will begin with individual interviews for personnel included in the integration plan.
Preliminary lists include about 9,000 personnel, including 1,000 women, though al-Hilali said the final number could change following the review process.
He said the next stage will involve verifying personal documents, employment records and other data for each applicant. Acceptance will be based on age, health, legal eligibility and professional competence.
Those accepted will be assigned according to the needs of the Ministry of Interior while taking into account their qualifications, experience and the requirements of various departments and sectors.
Al-Hilali said the timeline will depend on the number of applicants and the administrative and technical procedures required, but authorities aim to complete most of the work during July while ensuring transparency and accuracy.
He said the criteria are intended to help build a unified national security institution based on competence, discipline, respect for the law and service to citizens.
According to al-Hilali, the current priority is to support stability and strengthen the work of security institutions in Hasakah governorate and the wider eastern region within the framework of the Syrian state and its official institutions.
In recent months, authorities have implemented several measures under the agreement with the SDF announced on Jan. 29, including a phased mechanism for integrating military and administrative structures, the release of detainees, the reopening of key roads and the reactivation of government institutions in Hasakah governorate.
