Berlin, July 13 (SANA) The two-day “Re-Bloom” art exhibition concluded in Dortmund, Germany, on Sunday after bringing together Syrian artists, members of the Syrian community and German visitors for an event centered on cultural exchange and humanitarian support.
Organized by a group of Syrian women artists living in Germany, the exhibition showcased artworks inspired by themes of resilience, renewal and identity while raising funds for humanitarian and healthcare initiatives in Syria through the sale of exhibited pieces.
Visual artist and co-organizer Safa al-Sheikh Youssef said the exhibition draws on the symbolism of the flower to reflect the ability of Syrian women to renew, grow and adapt despite adversity. Rather than portraying suffering directly, she said, the artworks transform human experience into visual expressions intended to encourage reflection.
She said the exhibition aims to strengthen cultural dialogue between Syrians and German society while supporting Syrian women and Syria’s healthcare sector through charitable initiatives financed by artwork sales.
Participating artist Lamia al-Mesiti said she exhibited a collection of paintings alongside handcrafted floral works inspired by traditional Syrian decorative art. She described the exhibition as a platform for introducing Western audiences to the creativity of Syrian women and their contributions while living abroad.
Among her works was a portrait of Abdul Baset al-Sarout, which she said helps introduce visitors, particularly members of the Syrian community, to one of the prominent figures of the Syrian revolution.
The exhibition underscored the role of art as a bridge for cultural dialogue and international engagement while highlighting the contribution of the Syrian communities abroad to humanitarian and development initiatives supporting communities inside Syria.
