Damascus, Sept. 9 (SANA) Syria on Wednesday condemned repeated Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, reaffirming its full support for the kingdom and its right to take measures to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
In a statement, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said the Iranian attacks against the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan constitute an unacceptable violation of state sovereignty and a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The ministry stressed the need for an immediate halt to the attacks and reiterated Syria’s full support for Jordan and its solidarity with the kingdom in all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
Syria also renewed its call for respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
Earlier Wednesday, Jordanian Armed Forces said the kingdom’s air defense systems engaged 20 Iranian ballistic missiles, intercepting and destroying 18, while two fell in remote areas away from population centers.
