Damascus, March 21 (SANA) The Presidential Team tasked with overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement with the “SDF” issued a strong condemnation on Saturday regarding attacks on the national flag, the Internal Security headquarters in Qamishli, and certain civilians. The team emphasized that ongoing efforts to execute the integration agreement will remain unaffected by these isolated events.
Ahmad al-Hilali, spokesperson for the team, stated that the Presidential Team has been closely monitoring the “unfortunate events” triggered by the desecration of the Syrian Arab Republic’s flag in Ain al-Arab, as well as the subsequent reactions and violations that targeted civilians in areas including Afrin and its surroundings.
“While we clearly condemn any assault on national symbols, as well as the attack on the Internal Security headquarters in Qamishli, we simultaneously affirm our categorical rejection of any retaliatory acts or assaults against civilians under any pretext,” al-Hilali said.
Al-Hilali underscored that the State, through its security and judicial institutions, is the sole entity authorized to enforce the law and hold violators accountable. He called on all citizens to remain calm, exercise responsibility, and avoid being drawn into calls for sedition or discord.
Concluding his statement, al-Hilali remarked that the current phase requires everyone to prioritize reason and wisdom, preserving the positive steps toward stability and national reconciliation achieved recently.
The developments follow an incident in which an individual lowered the national flag during Newroz celebrations in Ain al-Arab, sparking widespread public protests. The Internal Security Command in Aleppo has already pledged to take all necessary legal actions against the perpetrator.
