Deir Ezzor, May 28 (SANA) Deir Ezzor Governor Ziad al-Ayesh affirmed that specialized teams have been working day and night since the first moments of the crisis to confront the consequences of rising water levels in the Euphrates River.
In remarks addressed to residents of the governorate on Thursday, al-Ayesh said the authorities had succeeded in protecting several water stations and relocating their equipment before floodwaters reached them, while evacuation operations for families living along the riverbed continue to preserve lives and ensure public safety.
He noted that the sharp rise in Euphrates water levels has caused significant damage to residents and property, leading to the suspension of several bridges, in addition to the shutdown of a number of water stations after floodwaters reached them.
Al-Ayesh added that an emergency response committee had been formed since the onset of the crisis, bringing together all directorates and relevant bodies, stressing that all state institutions in the governorate are currently operating under full emergency readiness.
The governor also announced the preparation of fully equipped shelters for affected families and ongoing efforts to secure water, bread, and essential services, affirming that state institutions will continue standing by residents until the crisis is overcome.
Al-Ayesh concluded by expressing confidence that Deir Ezzor would overcome the crisis through solidarity and cooperation among its residents, saying the governorate, which endured years of hardship, is capable of overcoming this challenge as well.
