Damascus, June 2 (SANA) Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yohei Onishi, reaffirmed Japan’s support for the private sector’s contribution to Syria’s reconstruction and economic recovery efforts.
In a recorded video message delivered during the First Syrian Private Sector Dialogue 2026 in Damascus, Onishi said Japan hopes the Syrian people will make further progress toward recovery, development and stability.
He stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing economic growth and supporting reconstruction initiatives, noting that such dialogue can contribute to Syria’s recovery and development.
Onishi said the Japanese government supports the private sector’s role in reconstruction efforts, adding that a number of Japanese companies are closely following the outcomes of the conference and its discussions.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Industry in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan, runs until June 3 and brings together government officials, business leaders and development partners to discuss economic recovery and private-sector growth.
