Damascus, May 28 (SANA) Minister of Energy Mohammad al-Bashir affirmed that the ministry has been closely monitoring developments related to rising water levels in the Euphrates River since the first signs of increased inflow, through continuous field follow-up and coordination with relevant authorities and emergency rooms in the affected governorates.
In statements to SANA on Thursday, al-Bashir said the ministry, through its institutions and technical teams, is directly overseeing the situation on the ground around the clock, including monitoring dams, water resources, water stations, and emergency response plans in the affected areas, in addition to assessing the readiness of technical teams and response mechanisms.
The minister stressed that all dams and water facilities across Syria remain technically safe and stable, noting that there is no structural threat to dams, gates, or operational systems, while technical crews continue monitoring and inspection activities continuously.
Al-Bashir added that precautionary measures had been implemented to protect facilities, pumping stations, and technical equipment, including dismantling some machinery and transferring it to safe locations before water reached the sites, in order to preserve the equipment and ensure rapid restoration of services once water levels recede.
