Damascus, May 12 (SANA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates‘ Department of International Organizations and Conferences convened the first workshop to formulate Syria‘s comprehensive national strategy against torture.
The session, attended by government representatives, civil society organizations, legal experts, and human rights advocates, aims to address the deposed regime’s systematic abuses, strengthen justice mechanisms, prevent future violations, ensure accountability, provide victim redress, and restore public trust in institutions.
This initiative supports broader government reforms to modernize human rights frameworks, align legislation with international standards, and advance accountability during national recovery.
