Deir Ezzor, April 10 (SANA) Syrian Petroleum Company teams, in cooperation with specialized engineering units, have begun clearing mines and war remnants from around the Koniko gas pipeline in eastern Deir Ezzor, in preparation for its rehabilitation.
The company said on Friday that the operation is aimed at securing the pipeline route and ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment ahead of completing repair works.
Plans include installing a missing section of approximately five kilometers, a step expected to enhance the readiness of the gas transport network and support production stability.
The Koniko pipeline forms part of the gas transport system linked to the Koniko field and processing plant in northeastern Deir Ezzor, one of Syria’s key gas facilities.
The pipeline sustained significant damage during the war, with several sections rendered inoperable and surrounding areas contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance, which have delayed maintenance and restoration efforts.
