Damascus, April 10 (SANA) Syrian Petroleum Company CEO Yousef Qablawy announced that the company received official confirmation from Chevron to proceed with offshore investment and exploration, marking a transition from initial understandings to implementation.

Qablawy said in a post on Facebook that the company, in cooperation with Chevron and UCC, has identified the targeted offshore site, paving the way for finalizing contracts and launching technical operations in summer 2026 as part of Syria’s first deep-water exploration project.

He added that the project represents a qualitative step in the Syrian energy sector, contributing to increased production, economic support and the transfer of advanced technologies, while reflecting renewed confidence in national expertise.

Qablawy expressed confidence that the current steps will help achieve tangible progress in the future, stressing Syria’s ability to recover and strengthen its position.

On March 26, Qablawy discussed with several companies participating in the CERAWeek conference in Houston, including Chevron, prospects for cooperation in the sector. Earlier in February, the Syrian Petroleum Company signed a memorandum of understanding with Chevron and Power International Holding for offshore oil and gas exploration off the Syrian coast.
