Riyadh, April 10 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation with Saudi Arabia in disaster response and capacity building during an official visit to the Kingdom.

According to the ministry, al-Saleh and his accompanying delegation reviewed the work of several Saudi institutions specializing in emergency management, focusing on advanced response systems and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence tools used in rescue and firefighting operations.

The discussions also addressed mechanisms for benefiting from Saudi expertise in enhancing readiness levels and accelerating response times, as well as the technical infrastructure supporting emergency operations.

Al-Saleh held a series of meetings with officials from relevant Saudi entities, during which both sides reviewed the challenges facing Syria at the current stage and explored opportunities for expanding cooperation, particularly in training, capacity building, and the exchange of technical expertise.

The two sides agreed to establish an institutional framework for cooperation, including sending specialized Syrian teams to the Saudi Civil Defense Institute to benefit from advanced training programs, with the aim of strengthening Syria’s emergency response system.

During the visit, al-Saleh also met with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef Al Saud to discuss enhancing coordination and expertise exchange to improve preparedness and protect lives.

He also held talks with Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, focusing on strengthening humanitarian cooperation and continuing support for initiatives in Syria.
