Daraa, April 7 (SANA) The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) on Tuesday entered the village of Ma’ariya in the Yarmouk Basin in the western Daraa countryside and documented residents’ testimonies on Israeli violations and attacks.
SANA’s correspondent in Daraa said UNDOF personnel questioned residents in the western neighborhood and in homes near an Israeli position about individuals detained by Israeli forces, as well as incursions into the village and incidents of livestock theft by Israeli settlers.
Days earlier, settlers in the occupied Syrian Golan crossed the ceasefire line and the separation zone established under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, reaching Ma’ariya village and stealing more than 300 head of livestock. They also set up fencing near the ceasefire line to trap Syrian livestock approaching the slopes and valleys of the area.
On April 4, UNDOF inspected the site where a civilian was killed after Israeli forces targeted his vehicle with a tank shell in the village of al-Zaaroura in the Quneitra countryside.
On December 30, UNDOF entered the village of Muallaqa in the Quneitra countryside and documented residents’ complaints about Israeli incursions.
Meanwhile, a UN delegation headed by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, accompanied by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ibrahim Olabi, visited Quneitra province on January 10.
The delegation met local officials and residents affected by repeated Israeli incursions and violations, with residents calling for urgent measures to halt these actions and ensure their safety and stability.
Israel continues to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions into southern Syria, carrying out raids, arrests and land bulldozing.
Syria reiterates its demand for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory, stressing that all measures taken in southern Syria are null and void under international law, and calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to these violations.
