Daraa, March 3 (SANA) – Two members of Syria’s Internal Security Forces were killed and three others injured on Tuesday in a landmine explosion in the city of Al-Sanamayn in Daraa countryside.
A security source told SANA that the incident occurred during a patrol near the site of the former Ninth Division, where personnel detected anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices concealed within stones, believed to be remnants left by the deposed regime.
While attempting to handle the explosives, one device detonated, killing two officers from al-Sanamayn Security department and injuring three others. The wounded were transferred to hospitals in Damascus for treatment.
Unexploded ordnance and landmines left behind by the ousted regime remain a major threat in several Syrian regions, posing ongoing risks to civilians and security personnel. Authorities continue clearance operations to remove war remnants and secure affected areas.
