Damascus, Feb. 23 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Decrees No. 50 and 51 of 2026 establishing a faculty of law and a faculty of economics at al-Furat University’s Raqqa branch.
The decree adds the new faculties to the list outlined in Article 2 of the executive regulations of the Universities Organization Law issued under Decree No. 250 of 2006.
President al-Sharaa also issued Decree No. 52 of 2026 establishing a third faculty of economics, a third faculty of education, and a third faculty of arts and humanities at Aleppo University’s campus in the northern city of Manbij, also added to the same list under the 2006 law.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to expand higher education and improve academic access in northern and northeastern areas that have come under the state’s control over the past year.
