Rabat, April 29 (SANA) A Syrian Interior Ministry delegation took part in an international forum in Rabat focused on the role of media and publishing in strengthening public awareness and addressing emerging challenges across the region.
The event, held at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in cooperation with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, brought together officials, researchers and media specialists.

According to the Syrian Interior Ministry, discussions centered on enhancing the contribution of media and publishing sectors in promoting informed public discourse and supporting community awareness initiatives.
Participants also reviewed regional experiences and best practices, including the use of educational and cultural tools to support public awareness and strengthen intellectual security.

The forum concluded with recommendations aimed at strengthening the role of the publishing sector in promoting societal awareness and adapting to rapid digital transformation.
Participants called for closer coordination across the sector, including proposals to establish a regional publishers’ framework, develop tools to assess content reliability and expand media literacy and critical thinking programs.

They also highlighted the need for mechanisms to verify information using advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, and for standards to distinguish between human-produced and AI-generated content.
