Damascus, Feb.17 (SANA) The National Committee on Observing Crescents in Syria announced on Tuesday that Thursday, February 19, 2026, is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan for this year, after the crescent moon was not sighted this evening.
The committee added in a statement that the observation committees deployed on Mount Qasioun and in all Syrian provinces were unable to sight the crescent moon, and no testimony confirming its sighting was received by the religious Sharia courts.
Muslims around the world fast during the holy month of Ramadan every day from dawn to sunset.
