Idleb, Feb. 7 (SANA) Two children were killed and two others injured on Friday in an explosion caused by remnants of the deposed regime in the town of Maardabsa in the southern countryside of Idleb.
Director of Operations at Idleb’s Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate, Walid Aslan, told SANA that three siblings, Zahraa Ahmad al-Abrash (10 years old), Mohammad (6), and Ali (7), were playing with their cousin Ibrahim Mohammad al-Abrash (5) in front of their home on the outskirts of the town when an object believed to be a detonator exploded.
Aslan said the blast killed the siblings Zahraa and Mohammad instantly, while their brother Ali and their cousin Ibrahim sustained varying injuries. The injured children were transported to the nearest medical facility, while the victims were evacuated from the scene.
He noted that the area where the explosion occurred had previously contained military positions and remains contaminated with war remnants and mines left behind by the ousted regime.
