Damascus, Feb.1 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind kabawat reviewed with the President of the Arab Organization for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (AOPD), Nawaf Kabbara, and the accompanying delegation, ways to support persons with disabilities in Syria.
During the meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters on Sunday, the two sides discussed developing policies, programs, and centers affiliated with the ministry that serve persons with disabilities, as well as ways to improve the services provided to them, enabling them to become active and productive members of society.
The delegation also conducted a tour of the Vocational, Scientific, and Professional Training and Development Center for Persons with Disabilities and War Victims “Qudrat” in the Dummar, where they were briefed on the current status of the center and mechanisms for developing the services to be offered there, based on policies of inclusion, social integration, independent living, and equal participation within society.
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor continues is committed) to supporting, empowering, and integrating persons with disabilities into society. In this context, on December 3, the ministry organized, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the “Happiness Again” organization, a consultative workshop entitled “The Voice of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities” at the “Qudrat” Center, which was rehabilitated in September after having been closed for 14 years.
