Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rahman Al-Dabbagh of the Intelligence Service said Syrian state institutions, acting under the direct guidance of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, are committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of Syrian citizens wherever they are and to upholding their value and standing at home and abroad.

He also praised the cooperation shown by the Iraqi government in resolving the case, thanking Iraq for its constructive engagement with the Syrian side.

In a statement to SANA, Anqa said the swift and effective intervention by Syrian state institutions demonstrated the state’s concern for its citizens wherever they may be. He said his case in Iraq had been fully resolved thanks to this intervention, noting that the charges were based on a “misunderstanding.”

Anqa expressed his gratitude to the Syrian government for facilitating his return to his homeland and family, and thanked the Syrian people for their solidarity. “I am very proud to be a Syrian citizen, and proud of my government and its president,” he said.

Anqa had previously been sentenced to death by an Iraqi court on charges of incitement to terrorism. However, intensive diplomatic efforts by the Syrian government through official channels with the Iraqi side led to the establishment of his innocence, his release, and his safe return home.
