Aleppo, Jan. 12 (SANA) The Aleppo Central Response Committee, chaired by Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib, held a coordination meeting Monday at the Aleppo Governorate building to discuss ways to accelerate the return of residents to their homes in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in northern Syria.
The meeting reviewed work carried out recently and assessed the level of services, as state service institutions began entering the targeted neighborhoods to restore and restart basic services, officials said.
The committee said residents have started returning to Ashrafieh, while efforts are continuing to complete security and service preparations in Sheikh Maqsoud, paving the way for residents to return there as well.
The committee operates within a unified coordination framework, with the participation of the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate and the directorates of health, social affairs and labor, and international cooperation, to address service-related needs in the area.
Officials said the next phase will focus on improving infrastructure and raising service levels, with the aim of creating suitable conditions for residents’ return and long-term stability.
Meanwhile, engineering units of the Syrian Arab Army are continuing operations to dismantle landmines planted by the SDF organization in areas surrounding the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood. The Aleppo City Council has also begun implementing a service plan in the district to prepare conditions for residents’ return.
