Anti-Narcotics units in Hama arrest group, seize 159,000 Captagon pills

Hama, Dec.02 (SANA)Anti-Narcotics officers in Hama arrested a group involved in trafficking and distributing narcotic substances across several neighborhoods of the city, the Interior Ministry announced Tuesday on its Telegram channel.

According to the statement, the operation followed targeted surveillance and investigative procedures, resulting in the arrest of three suspects identified by their initials as M.M., Y.Kh., and H.M. The Ministry said that officers seized approximately 159,000 Captagon pills, half a kilogram of hashish, and 900 controlled pharmaceutical tablets.

The search also uncovered a military firearm, ammunition, and grenades in the suspects’ possession. All materials were confiscated and processed in accordance with legal procedures, the Ministry added.

The detainees were referred to the competent judiciary to face the necessary legal measures.

The Ministry noted that nationwide efforts continue to combat narcotics-related crimes. In a related operation carried out Monday, Anti-Narcotics units in Damascus Countryside, in coordination with the Internal Security Directorate in al-Zabadani, seized 324 hashish bricks and 200,000 Captagon pills, which were also confiscated in line with legal protocols.
