Damascus, May 12 (SANA) Al-Nawair defeated Al-Shouleh 32-27 on Monday in the opening match of the Syria’s Men’s Handball League Finals (Golden Square) at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus.
Al-Nawair opened their Golden Square campaign with a five-goal victory after controlling much of the match.
Al-Jaish will face Al-Taliya on Tuesday in the other Golden Square fixture, while the second round will be held next Wednesday and Thursday in Damascus and Hama.
Teams compete in a best-of-three format to qualify for the final, which will also follow the same format to determine the league champion and runner-up.
