Damascus, May 11 (SANA) The Saudi Embassy in Damascus held an official farewell ceremony on Sunday for Saudi Ambassador to Syria Faisal bin Saud Al-Mujfel at the conclusion of his diplomatic mission, attended by ministers, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions.
The ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus and was attended by political figures, economic representatives and members of civil society.
Ambassador Al-Mujfel said at the ceremony that Saudi-Syrian relations remained strong, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s support for Syria during its current transition period under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
He pointed to Saudi efforts supporting the easing of sanctions on Syria, encouraging public- and private-sector investment and providing humanitarian assistance through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
Al-Mujfel said the total value of Saudi humanitarian and relief assistance to Syria had reached nearly $1.5 billion.
The ambassador added that Syria had entered a new phase of transformation and expressed hope for continued stability and prosperity for the Syrian people.
Speaking to SANA, Syria’s Finance Minister Mohamed Yisr Barnieh said the broad attendance reflected the strong and evolving relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia, which he said had developed significantly over the past year.
Barnieh described the Syrian-Saudi partnership as strategic, adding that bilateral relations were witnessing steady growth in a manner serving the interests of both countries.
He also praised Ambassador Al-Mujfel for his role in strengthening ties between Damascus and Riyadh.
