Syrian Army Warns: SDF and PKK movements keep Aleppo under threat
Syrian Army Operations Command: Persistent threats in eastern Aleppo, PKK and SDF movements monitored

Damascus, Jan. 16 (SANA) The Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army confirmed that, despite mediation attempts to ease tensions in eastern Aleppo, the threat to Aleppo city and its eastern countryside remains.

According to the Command, intelligence sources reported the arrival of Bahoz Erdal, a senior PKK figure, from the Qandil Mountains to the Tabqa area to oversee military operations conducted by the SDF and PKK militias against the Syrian people and their army.

The Command further revealed that the SDF and PKK militias have deployed a large number of Iranian drones toward Maskanah and Deir Hafer, preparing for new attacks targeting civilians in Aleppo and its eastern countryside.

Additionally, new groups of PKK militants and remnants of the deposed regime were observed arriving in Tabqa, with plans to transfer them to deployment points in Deir Hafer, Maskanah, and surrounding areas.

The Syrian Arab Army emphasized that it is working to secure civilians from areas used by the SDF and its allies as launchpads for military operations. It stressed that the Army will continue to defend the population and safeguard Syria’s sovereignty, vowing not to allow remnants of the defunct regime, cross‑border terrorists, or militants arriving from Qandil to destabilize the country or target Syrian society.
