Turkish Foreign Minister Condemns Israeli Expansion through Syrian Territory

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan denounced on Sunday the repeated Israeli incursions into Syrian territory, stressing that the Israeli expansionist policy in Syria is the greatest danger.

“We are planning to hold a tripartite meeting soon between Turkey, the United States, and Syria,” Fidan said in a televised interview reported by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, Fidan expressed Ankara’s willingness to assume the responsibility of being the actual guarantor if the two-state solution is achieved in the Palestinian territories, explaining that Turkey’s role in Palestine is “mediation.”

The international summit on Middle East peace was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, last Monday attended by leaders and representatives from over 31 countries, as well as international and regional organizations. At the summit, leaders from the United States, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt signed a comprehensive document outlining the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
