New York, Sept. 23 (SANA) Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East during talks in New York on Tuesday.
Qatar News Agency reported that the meeting covered key regional and international developments, with particular focus on efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and the international community’s role in supporting initiatives aimed at peaceful and diplomatic solutions in the region and beyond.
The two sides reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation between Qatar and the United Nations and discussed key issues on the agenda of the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level meetings and General Debate of the 81st General Assembly, which began Tuesday with Syria participating and runs through Sept. 28.
