Syria discusses possibility of cooperation in public transport sector with Norway

Damascus, SANA- Transport Minister, Yarub Badr discussed Wednesday with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Norwegian Embassy in Syria, Hilde Haraldstad, ways of cooperation between the two countries in the field of developing public transportation.

Minister Badr spoke about the basic needs of the transportation sector in Syria, which must be met as quickly as possible, to achieve sustainable transportation services.

In turn, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Norwegian Embassy affirmed her country’s desire to build partnerships to support the Syrian people in various fields, including transportation.

The two sides agreed that public transport, digitization, traffic safety, and road safety are important to everyone in general, and that support and cooperation in this area is essential.

Haraldstad also pointed out the need to benefit from the Norwegian experience in using renewable energy in the public transportation sector, stressing the importance of partnerships with all international humanitarian organizations to help lift the unjust economic sanctions imposed on Syria and provide appropriate support.
