HOMS, Dec. 10 (SANA) Residents of al-Mzayneh in Homs countryside lit the “Tree of Love” on Tuesday evening during a popular celebration marking Christmas and the first anniversary of Syria’s Liberation Day, in a scene reflecting the symbols of life, hope, dignity, and victory.

A large turnout from the local community contributed to a joyful atmosphere, with participants saying the occasion represents a new chapter in the town’s memory where religious and national celebrations come together, reinforcing unity and social cohesion.
Father George Youssef Khoury Safita told SANA that this year’s Christmas carries a special national dimension, combining the Nativity feast with the liberation anniversary. He expressed hope for peace, love, and goodness across the country, and for Syrians to work together in construction and reconstruction.
Event organizer Kinan Assi noted that this year’s tree lighting coincided with illuminating the flag of the new Syria on the first liberation anniversary, symbolizing the new birth of a free Syria united by love and peace.

The celebration featured artistic and musical performances by children, along with light displays reflecting the spirit of Christmas and liberation. Attendees expressed their joy at a moment that combined spiritual and national sentiments.
Al-Mzayneh celebration is part of a series of events across Homs Province marking Christmas and the first anniversary of liberation, reaffirming Syrian unity and the values of love and peace.
