Ankara, March 6 (SANA) Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler spoke with his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Hasanov on Thursday to discuss defense and security issues and recent regional developments.
According to a statement from Turkey’s Defense Ministry reported by Anadolu Agency, the two ministers also reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The call followed an announcement earlier on Thursday by Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry that Iran had launched four drones targeting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Azerbaijani forces said they had neutralized one of the drones.
In response to the incident, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s ambassador in Baku and delivered an official protest. Tehran denied responsibility, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejecting the allegation.
