New York, Sept. 22 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said an agreement over the Strait of Hormuz could help revive negotiations involving Iran, during talks with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.
Erdogan and Burnham discussed bilateral ties and regional and international developments, including Gaza, Iran and Ukraine, Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications said.
Erdogan said Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank showed it did not seek peace and called for international pressure, according to the statement.
On Ukraine, Erdogan said the conflict remained deadlocked and that attacks on Turkish or foreign commercial vessels in the Black Sea were further complicating the situation.
The two leaders also discussed Cyprus, with Erdogan saying any settlement must recognize what Türkiye considers the sovereign equality and equal international status of Turkish Cypriots.
Erdogan also said Türkiye-Britain ties were strengthening and that cooperation could be expanded, particularly in trade and the defense industry.
