Washington, July 10 (SANA) US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has agreed to continue negotiations with Iran, while emphatically declaring that the previously established ceasefire between the two countries has “ended”.
In a post published on his Truth Social platform today, Trump wrote: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!”
The military escalation between Washington and Tehran recently resurfaced following the Iranian targeting of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, the United States executed a series of retaliatory airstrikes against dozens of strategic targets across Iran.
Following those developments, Trump declared during the recent NATO summit in Ankara that the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war was officially “over”.
